Wilson Creek Backpacking Trip

STOP THE PRESSES! Late breaking news follows. (From Mr. Goodman)

Saturday 9/29/2012: Charley Shilling led 17 Scouts and 6 adults for about 2 miles of hiking at the Wilson Creek wilderness area. Highlights of the hike included:

·Being stung by ground bees

·Eating lunch in the rain

·Hiking in torrential rain

·Sliding down steep muddy trails.

The rain finally stopped. We reached our campsite, then set up tents and the bear bag. We enjoyed the afternoon either swimming at the Harper Creek Falls (beautiful triple falls with two swimming holes) or preparing for cooking requirements for merit badge advancements. Mr. Prock managed to start a fire with soaked wood and we enjoyed that after our dinner.

Sunday 9/30/2012: Broke camp at about 9:00, hiked about 2 miles to the parking lot. Had a short devotional on the trail. Returned to Asheville at about 12:30.
